कोलकाता। पश्चिम बंगाल राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग (डब्ल्यूबीएसईसी) ने बृहस्पतिवार को एक अधिसूचना जारी कर राज्य की 108 नगरपालिकाओं के चुनाव 27 फरवरी को कराने की घोषणा की। हालांकि, अधिसूचना में मतगणना की तारीख का जिक्र नहीं है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि इसकी घोषणा बाद में की जाएगी। राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग के एक अधिकारी ने कहा, ‘‘108 नगरपालिकाओं के चुनाव 27 फरवरी को होंगे। मतगणना की तारीख की घोषणा बाद में की जाएगी। पूरी चुनाव प्रक्रिया आठ मार्च तक संपन्न हो जाएगी।’’
बता दें कि भाजपा ने पश्चिम बंगाल के 108 नगर निकायों के चुनाव को चार सप्ताह के लिए टालने का आह्वान किया था। पार्टी प्रवक्ता समिक भट्टाचार्य ने कहा था कि राज्य में इन दिनों कोरोना से हो रही मौतों के आंकड़ें चिंता बढ़ाने वाले हैं। ऐसे में 27 फरवरी को होने वाले 108 नगर निकायों में नगरपालिका चुनाव को कम से कम चार सप्ताह तक के लिए स्थगित कर दिया जाना चाहिए। बता दें कि इससे पहले कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने कोरोना के बढ़ते मामले को देखते हुए जनवरी में होने वाले निकाय चुनाव को टालने का निर्देश दिया था।
